(LAS VEGAS) - Word comes from the great state of Texas that our very own member of the Panel of Magic Advisors Walter Blaney will be the guest of honor at the world class magic convention held every year in Texas on Labor Day Weekend, the TAOM convention.
Such a deserving, tall guy, one of the true gents of magic, and my dear friend as well, Walter is humbled by the experience, you can be sure.
At 80 years young, this seems like a fitting cap to a celebration that seems to never end, and one of the highlights of the convention will be when another of our Panel of Magic Advisors, and my good pal, Tony Brook does his best Larry King impersonation when he interviews Walter during the convention.
Tony comes to this year’s TAOM from Portugal to host the International Walter Blaney Tribute in a talk show format. Tony is a performer, author, producer, lecturer and talk show host and broadcaster. He is a member of the Panel of Advisors on The Magic Web Channel and is the Director of International Operations at MWC and an International Deputy for The Society of American magicians. Tony is a frequent contributor to many of the magic journals and publications around the world and is a gracious talk show host who has done his homework on Walter for this special event! Come be a part of history as Tony presents, “This is your life, Walter Blaney”.
Walter has contributed to magic around the globe during his career with his performances, inventions and television appearances. Walter will perform his signature “Ladder Levitation” and Birdcage vanish, along with appearing on the above mentioned talk show “set” for an hour of conversation. Learn how Walter got started in magic, how he conceived and built his signature illusions, and what life was like in the golden years of television. See “never before seen” video clips and photos on the big screen from Walter’s past while special guest stars, including Walter’s family members, share their stories about this tall Texan. Help us celebrate Walter’s 80th birthday as the talk show wraps up on Saturday afternoon.
I wish I wasn't working (yeah, right) on that weekend, as I would very much like to be there for this wonderful convention and to see Walter's life flash before his eyes.
It's been decades since I shook up the state of Texas with my apearance at TAOM back in the 70's. I look forward to returning one day soon. The convention is a down-home affair, all warm and fuzzy, with magicians and their families gathering for the annual connection this event brings, and it is a true honor to appear on the program of this prestigious event.
For complete show schedules and talent run down for this years great event, go to the TAOM website.

MAGIC SHOW WORKS
People said it wouldn't work. The idea of charging $300 a seat for a close-up magic show.
In any other city in the world, that is probably correct. But here in Vegas, where people spend $1,000 for a martini and more, just for the "experience" of it all, the cost of our show is nothing new.
Certainly not been done before, which makes it hard for some people to accept. But people are paying for it, and we have had solid, sol-out performances since we opened.
The summer will be a challenge, we have already scheduled a few weeks off, some for the holidays, and some to accomodate gigs that I have had on the books before I signed this contract, which will allow me to travel to the East coast and maybe catch an NBA playoff game with the Celtics.
You can read about the show, or purchase tcikets here.
Have a great week...
Magically
yours,
Steve
